Play

At the end of the day, people that have time to relax, have fun, and play are healthier and more connected to their families and communities.

STEPS TO GETTING STARTED

1Sign up to start your journey to healthy play

Start your journey by signing up to make change. Whether you’re a sportsclub that want to help parents be active on the sideline, or you’re a local community wanting to improve your parks. Get in touch about how we can help make it happen.

2Talk to our team and design your plan to play

Work with one of our Healthy Families Manukau, Manurewa-Papakura coaches about your goals. Our team is also working across settings where the community work, live and learn, so we’ll also look for opportunities to connect with others who share your goals.

Our team live, learn and play in south Auckland, and they share your passion for better spaces for us all to have fun.

3Put your plan into action

The Healthy Families Manukau, Manurewa-Papakura coaches will help you to get involved in creating healthy places where we play. Changes may start small, like a water policy for your club, or drink fountains in the park. They might include creating family friendly clubrooms or working with council on safe spaces designed by kids for kids to play.

You are in control and we are here to help and guide you to make it happen.

Play

We want play to be…fun! It sounds obvious but sometimes it’s really hard to just play, whether it’s about sport and being connected into your code of choice, or whether it’s about being spontaneous and in the moment because you’ve got time to relax and muck around.

Sometimes it might just be about having a space that’s safe, that you can get to, and that the whole family can enjoy. Perhaps you just want to walk or cycle to work.

Simple right?

Maybe not…there’s lots of stuff that gets in the way of our ability to have fun or to play so we’re about bringing all of the stakeholders in to have a conversation about how we can do this right across the system for everyone.

At the end of the day, people that have time to relax, have fun, and play are healthier and more connected to their families and communities.
